Scale Hall

Saturday 3rd April 2004

I went to Scale Hall for the last race in the series. As I had a clear lead in the overall I just needed to watch one rider, Nathan Turnball.

As expected, on the first lap, Turnball attacked and no one reacted so I began to chase. No other riders where offering any help in the chase so when I caught Turnball I attacked straight away and got a gap. After 4 laps Turnball jumped across to me and we worked together.

As we where about 15 minutes into the race and it hadn't rained yet! it was time for some rain, a lot of rain in fact. This took the initiative out of the bunch and we where able to lap them, and again about 30 minutes later.

By the time we came to contest the finish we had 2 laps on the bunch and I had lost all feeling in my hands and feet which contributed to an inability to sprint. I finished 2nd but won the series overall.

Thanks to Andrew Martin for this report.
