WCTTA 25 Mile Time Trial

Sunday 12th September 2004

On Sunday i rode the above event which I suppose you could class as a Hilly!

The course was a revised version of D25/8 which went from Prees to Battlefield island and back. The weather was thankfully dry but very windy.

I was off last a 9.00am so at 8.30 I started my warm up and realised that the legs were not good today and I was going to suffer.

The out leg to Battlefield was into a headwind, what a grovel! sometimes down to below 20mph. I encircled the roundabout in 31 mins and even contemplated packing because the legs were aching so much. If I did pack then it would take me longer to get back to the HQ so I decided to give it everything and take defeat graciously. I eventually crossed the line somewhat worse for wear in a time of 58.25. To my amazement when I went to hand my number in riders were congratulating me on a good ride. So after grabbing a coffee I headed for the results board and realised I had won being 30secs faster than the 2nd placed rider. Nobody else managed to get under the hour.

Roll on next Sunday as I am riding the Anfield BC 25 on the same course, hopefully with a few tweaks of the training routine this week I will have good legs for next Sunday and hopefully defend my title in the event for the 3rd year running.

Thanks to Norman Hughes for this report.
