Tour of Britain 2004 - Stage 3 - Bakewell - Nottingham

Friday 3rd September 2004

The third stage of the tour of Britain is the last stage I will be able to see (racing on Anglesey on Sunday), so don't expect any more pics, unless you are going and can send them in.

We went to watch the sprint at Duffield, won by Benjamin Noval (US Postal Service) who pocketed a nice cheque for €700.00 for his efforts. The rest of the peleton followed around 8mins behind at a speed of a Sunday club ride, compared to the lead group, with Rob well placed in the middle. We then headed to Nottingham to watch the finish.

We managed to find one of the Welsh teams support vehicles and asked for an update on how Rob was doing. He told us that Rob was feeling good, after his efforts on the first day, and still had plenty of riding in his legs. He did suffer yesterday but so did a lot of riders (Bradley Wiggins included). This was proved as he came across the finishing line in the main bunch looking comfortable.

Good luck Rob for the last two stages and lets see you giving your best in London.
