Recycling Gt Budworth

Sunday 10th July 2005

Both myself and Dave Tait were entered to race the Recycling 3/4 cat race at Gt Budworth. The weather was hot with dehydration being a possible concern for us all. The course is based upon a 7.3mile circiut which you cover 6 times. There is a sharp hill but nothing worth worrying about.

The first couple of laps were nervous with a few trying to get away but they were always reeled back in pretty soon. I stayed in the bunch trying to gauge both my own form and that of those around me for the first few laps, then gradually made my way through the group each time on the climb.

As the bell rang I felt that my conservation was paying off and I was feeling up for the sprint. I sprinted from about midway and felt that I was maybe on to my way to a first time inside the top ten but no Dave pipped me on the line to get 10th leaving me with 11th. All in all well derserved as Dave was competitive throughout the race.

Thanks to Mark Jones for this report
