Oulton Park No. 2

The crowds flocked to Oulton Park to watch Tony Bell's comeback but he didn't come back again! What they did see is an almost full team of Deeside riders in both events.

Rob, John and Sam all finished well in their race (apologies to anyone I missed), and we put on a good show in the later event. Steve Lloyd and John Skates went up the road very early and Andrew Windsor joined them on the hill at the end of the lap. Forming a group of about 10 they worked away but never really got a great advantage. Despite the efforts of our riders to spoil the bunches chase, they were gradually reeled in. As we climbed the last time the groups came together. Andrew tried to jump away again but was caught around the last bend. I got the right wheels but lost them on the bend as riders were coming back. Andrew shouted at me to give it everything with 200 to go and I hung on for 4th place in my race.

A major point to mention is the quality of riding from our team - no-one chased down, everyone contributed to 'blocking' and evry one of our riders was safe. When you looked around at the standard of riding from some clubs, we should be proud -well done guys (and gal). ps where is Lucy? Will he ever race again? Watch this space.
