Ken Hill Memorial

Sunday 3rd July 2005

Marcus, Mick and myself rode what turned out to be a very fast and competitive race. Being one of the Percy Stallard National Series it had attracted a good field and this was reflected in the racing.

Various combinations escaped but one break survived to the end - both A group riders. Roy Francis in the B group escaped with a couple of miles to go and so we sprinted for second. A group of us got of the front up the finish and as I checked the numbers I thought that none of my group were left so I rode across the line without contesting so that I was second. I then found out that Tony Parkinson normally an A group had recently moved up and so I ended third. Mick finished close behind and Marcus stopped to help Neil Russell who had fallen off and badly hurthimself on the descent.

John The Baker rode the over 50 event and finished well. Good one John
