Bike Factory GP

Sunday 15th May 2005

Myself, Ian Edwards, Mal Ridgeway, Mark Jones, Gordon Wallace, Mike Jones & Sam Roberts (Deeside's crack 3rd / 4th Cat race team) rode the Bike Factory GP. The race was 7 laps of the Saighton circuit, and was ridden in warm sunshine.

The first couple of laps were fairly negative, with any breakaway attempts quickly chased down. On lap 3 (I think) 2 riders drifted off the front, quickly joined by 2 more and the winning break formed staying away for the best part of 5 laps to win by just over a minute. I tired to bridge at one point, but managed to dangle off the front of the main group for a couple of minutes, making very little impression on the breaks, then 30 second gap.

Ian, Mal, Mark and myself tried to get things moving on later laps, but any small chase groups which formed didn't really get too far.

The remaining places were decided by a bunch gallop, with me getting 9th overall. Everyone else finished safely in the bunch, Sam being first lady.

John Holmes (!) of TerryDolan.com won in a shade over 2 hours.

Thanks to David Tait for this report
